It’s the way the Italians have always wanted it: the fewer people who get their hands on their cars, the better. But crying elitism is pointless.

People who have never even seen a Ferrari – in fact, people who’ve never seen a car – still know the brand as the tippy-top of motoring desirability. It has the same knee-jerk approval rating as oxygen. It’s funny how that happened, actually.
